Earlier this year, I decided to take a trip to the lakeside city of Kisumu better pronounced as Kisumo! The feeling and the atmosphere of the lake and yurop start to hit you as you approach Ahero. As you approach the city, Awasi conditions you to a luopean lifestyle. The beautiful melanin-laden ladies of Kisumu City hit our eyes as we approached Nyamasaria. A guy who we were travelling with kept on looking outside the window with wuuueh, wawawawaa, assertions.
Everything’s Hot in the Lakeside City
The hot wet climate of Kisumu caressed our skins with warm kisses. At exactly 2 pm, we were at the city centre, staring at the marvellous doings of the current county leadership. Prof. Nyongo is doing wonders, and one could easily notice the difference between now and 2007 when I first set my feet in this city. The cleanliness of the town, the organised transport system, and the upgraded Kibuye market speak volumes. There are a few tall buildings in the city centre that catch one’s eye, one of them being the one Kentons building. A few metres from it is the characteristic mega plaza whose design illustrates an architect’s prowess.
Dunga Hill camp
Between 2007 and 2015 you would never claim to have been in Kisumu if you didn’t go to Luangni beach. The area got its name because of the numerous flies that characterized the place. Dunga and Impala Sanctuary are other places that people frequent when in Kisumu. So this day, we decided to go to Dunga Hill Camp, a very nice place, with a cool breeze and a perfect view of the lake. Check out their Instagram page @Dunga
Fish and Breeze
As we sat down enjoying the breeze and fish, a lady walked in, clad in a black knee-length dress. While waiting for the preparation of the dish, she poured herself some red wine. It didn’t take long for qualified chefs to prepare a very delicious meal. However, the lady, presumably in her early 30s, took a small bite of the meal and left it. Regardless of whether she bought it herself or not, we kept on asking ourselves why she did that, yet someone somewhere slept hungry.
