Chief Executive Officer at HomaHills Community Development Organization

Homa Hills Community Development Organization is a medium-sized NGO located in Rachuonyo North, sub county, Homabay County, with the objective of empowering the Karachuonyo communities in terms of their civic duties, economic self-sufficiency, food security, preservation of the environment, public health and HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support for a fair and just society. The CDO is developing a new business model  targeting the Enterprise development as its new frontier for own source revenue. They are seeking self motivated applicants to the position of a CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Resource Mobilization including Fundraising

  • External Relations, Stakeholder Engagement, Advocacy and Public Relations

  • Technology, Innovation, Monitoring and Evaluation

The CEO will oversee the Homahills Community Development organization’s overall direction and operational direction in accordance with its philosophy, mission, and the comprehensive strategies outlined by the Board of Directors. This includes creating the organization’s goals and business plans in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of bachelors level and above in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Agribusiness, project management or relevant qualifications.
  • At least seven years of managing or working in a non-profit organization, an international development agency or other reputable organization, preferably at a senior level leading staff team.
  • Experience in policy engagement and communication, evidence-based policymaking, grant making, research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning; consulting; and regional and international development.
  • Has technical and contextual expertise, demonstrated by a combination of training and experience in skills relevant to management of donor funded projects, community development  and extensive familiarity with stakeholders and actors and the dynamics and forces that shape them.
  • Has experience in fundraising in an African development context, preferably in Kenya, evidenced by past accomplishments in generating revenue and establishing networks within the donor community.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders, both locally and internationally.
  • Excellent networking and partnership-building skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of Kenyan and international laws and frameworks related to nonprofit organizations and social impact is an advantage.

Finance Officer Job Action Against Hunger

The Finance Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial transactions and procedures of the organization. S/he will also provide support to the Finance Head of Department & occasional work with & support the Regional Finance Specialist. The Finance officer will work under the guidance and direct supervision of the Finance Head of Department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Qualification
  • At least 5 years work experience in humanitarian sector
  • Strong Financial background (accountancy and financial management)
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills (ability to analyze budgets and make financial forecasts)
  • Proven ability to translate analysis and evaluation into operational planning and strategy
  • Good communication skills
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills
  • Significant experience in INGOs in recovery and complex emergencies
  • Good knowledge of donors’ guidelines and procedures.
  • Proven ability to work in multi-donor short term contract situations and ability to effectively juggle priorities to meet the needs of the mission
