Yesterday, I had a chance to worship at a very beautiful sanctuary in one of the estates in the city. The guest speaker reminded me of those preachers who hype the masses with, “Shout I receive!!”. The preacher got onto the stage and hyped up the congregation with a shout to the LORD. I know most of us can relate, and at one time, the religious ones who attend these modern churches have done it. The message was nice, as the title was, “Manifesting Glory.” Everyone had his eyes glued on the speaker as he delivered the message seamlessly. The message resonated well with the theme of the year, and invoked people’s emotions. His delivery clearly showed that he had mastered the holy book as he had the scriptures at his fingertips.
I Receive!
I loved the message and got touched indeed, but as the service was going on, something struck my mind. Everyone was shouting, I receive it! Yes!! At some point, the speaker wondered why the church did not have company owners. How the members had not conquered the world of business as they were the children of God and it also got me wondering! As he concluded his message, he called upon those who wished to conquer the business world.
The entire church stood up, and the man of God prayed for them, but he (the man of God) took it a notch higher and asked those who already owned companies to go in front. Only a handful went, and at that point, I discovered what makes most church-goers be wishful thinkers. We always shout I receive, but do not take action, but the sad truth is that you can never conquer the business world if you do not take the initiative. Shouting I receive will never make you a company owner.
Will A Sacrifice MAke You Rich?
One thing that has always been stressed by these preachers is that sacrifice will make you rich. Do not get me wrong when I assertively say that sacrifice will never make you rich, but it will open a door of opportunities for you. Preachers read a lot of scriptures about sacrifice which if you are not wise, you will end up giving more and receiving none. I take for instance the life of Abel and Cain. These two were farmers, and their sacrifice came from their farm produce. James 1 vs 22 talks of putting words into action, and affirms that faith without action is dead.
