Chelsea Football Club have mutually agreed to part ways with their first team coach. Sporting directors Lawrence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said, on behalf of the club. The statement read, “On behalf of everyone, at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.” This came just two days after the 2023/2024 season came to an end. The London-based club had a not-so-good season, after spending a billion pounds on new players. The second half of the season was better than the first half, which saw Chelsea finish at position six.
The former Barcelona player and Tottenham Hotspurs manager was appointed as Chelsea manager on the 1st of July 2023. He took over from Thomas Tuchel after the German national was sacked following a dismal season at the club. Mauricio appreciated the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of the club’s history. The directors said that the club will be making no further comment until such a time when a new coach is appointed.
